 Windows 7 Blackbox
Hey guys, has anyone found out a way to install Blackbox on the Windows 7 RC? I tried the Vista instructions with running as administrator but it doesn't stick =/ Blackbox runs fine, but it won't stay as the default shell after reloading and it seems that the normal explorer shell still runs underneath blackbox. Any suggestions?

 Re: Windows 7 Blackbox
are you installing it (shortcut/cmd "blackbox.exe -install") or just trying to run it after windows starts up?
boxcore works fine for me, try disabling UAC completely if you havn't already.

 Re: Windows 7 Blackbox
I've tried every method I could find, doing it through cmd, initiating blackbox first under admin controls and then doing etc etc... It starts just fine, but I can't get it to auto load with windows and replace explorer. Explorer still sticks around, I guess I could just put a shortcut to blackbox in my startup folder but that's not the same as having it auto disable explorer and actually replace the shell... I haven't found any registry hacks for it yet, if someone could give me the correct path I could give that a shot.

 Re: Windows 7 Blackbox
Hey Jelic I've got it going. Well, i've got xoblite going on Win 7 x64 Ultimate Build 7100. I didn't bother with any instructions. (Vista or otherwise) I downloaded Xoblite, installed to C:\bb, and ran the install script in the folder.
This is where it got fruity. It ran, it was stable, and the world was happy. Then I had to reboot. No xoblite. So I ran the installer script again. (each time, I installed for my user only, not the entire system - I like to have a vanilla experience if I need to log in as the administrator / safemode)
I manually started bb and everything seemed happy. Then, out of the blue, I had a start menu (No taskbar, just the start menu button). I actually thought that was kind of a cool thing to have, it was minimal, out of the way and provided the OEM experience.
Then I logged in with rdesktop (Linux Remote Desktop client), and low and behold, I had a full taskbar hiding my xoblite bar. I was like "WTF, DUDE!" but did what I had to and logged out.
Came back to the computer and had to reboot. I logged back in, and no sign of the taskbar, or start menu. There don't seem to be any artifacts left from it either. I've since rebooted twice more and no signs of any taskbar. I think xoblite finally kick it's systemtray and is now guilty of foul play.
I know none of that was technical, but that's how I have come to using xoblite alone. Perhaps it just takes a few times with the install.bat and a few reboots? Win7 is definatly something weird. I encounted an issue with a game that the developers or no one else has ever seen, so it's really un-predictable like that.

 Re: Windows 7 Blackbox
I thought the install-bat with xoblite had registry info in it, but I double checked and it does not. I coulda swore it did.
Anyways, something I forgot to mention. Before I installed xoblite, I did install bbLean, which worked (I guess) perfectly. There was no signs of the explorer taskbar. I never used it before and it did not seem to have some of the things I wanted in a bbshell, so I installed xoblite.
I don't remember if I installed xoblite over bbLean, or if I did the proper thing and removed bbLean first. The folder is still there, so hard to say.
I would say, until qwik releases xobLite bb4, you'll just have to keep playing with it and/or deal with it being "broken" (it being Windows 7)
edit: I used the bbLean 0.1.17 which isn't the one from the main website. Look around on here, you'll find the link. If I had it, i'd post it for ya.

 Re: Windows 7 Blackbox
How should I install windows 7 on a blank hard drive? I've been looking around to see how to do it, and I've been hearing that I need to partition everything on my current hard drive/os, and that I need to do a bunch of random stuff to register windows 7. I've just been wondering if it can be easier. Can I just take out my current hard drive, put in my new one, load the W7 disc, and follow the installation instructions?
