Seen this in the screenshots section... maybe these guys should get their own subforum. It sure looks interesting what they've done, their task bar is quite impressive.
Has anybody tried this out yet? If so, do you know if it needs any particular libraries?

I ran it on two different computers, but it didn't work 100 % on either. On machine one (1600 x 1080), the menu loaded ok, but was stuck several cm above the bottom edge of the screen (I guess that's because it's preset to a lower screen resolution), and on machine two (1024 x 768), while it was at the bottom, the taskbar was empty.

Not sure what I need to edit to get this to work, so any pointers would be appreciated.

No idea yet why that taskbar is empty, but I did discover that the position of it is controlled via bbInterface.rc.
That's one of the shortcomings of this setup right now - out of the box, it rarely works. On a third machine (1280 x 800), the taskbar was off the screen because it's set to 933 initially (the bar is 27 high). And while there are many things one can tweak via the GUI, this one requires editing of an rc file. Not a big deal once you've figured out where to go, but it would be nice to have this on the menu... I'd find this more useful than the screen resolution changer, which is really quite unnecessary since a link to the Display properties is right there on the right-click menu (Screen).

Cool.
Is there any reason you guys don't use window decorations?

Btw, your English is quite good, no need to apologize. :)

Small point, but have you fixed the syntax in a number of your styles. You have "rised" - when it should be "raised". Impressed with the quality of your design.

There is, actually... i tried bbleanskin for many times, its a nice tool, but sometimes - it's may be pretty unstable.
For me - that's not a problem, but we going to use utbox in our other projects, like preinstalled environment for home PCs(I wish i could have my first PC with something like that preinstalled...), office workstation, and even a terminal servers. So it must be "portable" and bulletproof at the same time...
I suggest you to try our re-source pack(12mb.), Its safe to install and nice in work ;)
install, reboot, check your "Display Properties > Appearance" and select theme. Bonus: go to mouse settings(cursors) and select one of cursor schema's.
Besides, if you want to see true power of utbox styles - you must install that pack.. or at least one of its components - ut_fonts(2.3mb.).

thanks! (for "rised" too. just fixed).

ps: project just started, you know. there is no any documentation, or even changelog...but we really want to create something, that will "enhance and simplify everyday PC usage". and we will.

Really? That's probably the one thing I haven't had any problems with yet. Oh well, too bad, because I think the window decorations really add to the experience. And when they aren't there, it just looks... wrong.
I hope you'll reconsider. :)

.
All right, I shall do that. Custom cursors sound good (I'm still hoping to find one day some of the cursors I saw back in the early 90s on an X-terminal [AIX]... it was just one cursor for everything, but they had a really large selection, including an Iron Cross, the [starship] Enterprise, a target cursor... neat things when you came from DOS 3.3. :) )

Btw, can someone tell me, how can I change cursors theme in XP from cmd? I mean by running .bat file.

__
EDIT: Made a search in a registry and found this key
Code:
HKCU\Control Panel\Cursors

So, I can make a .reg file, and execute it by .bat file. But how can I do it silently, without it asking me, whether I want to add this data to my registry?

And another thing in here
Code:
HKCU\Control Panel\Cursors\Schemes

I can make a predefined scheme, but how can I activate it?

Search the web, and you shall find:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310516
Quote:
Regedit.exe supports a /s command-line switch to not display these messages. For example, to silently run the .reg file (with the /s switch) from a login script batch file, use the following syntax:
regedit.exe /s path of .reg file

Guys,

a couple of comments:

a) I'm not a big fan of how you've set up the menus so that one always has to click to open a sub-menu.
b) In blackbox.rc, you still have a typo - "slit.appearance: rised gradient" - needs to be "raised".
c) I found a couple of graphical glitches:

I do like how the menu/taskbar now finds the lower edge of the screen by itself. (Or was that an accident due to my screen resolution? :) ) But when I decided to show the workspace field/button, that got cut off at about 50 %. It was easily fixed by lowering the width percentage of the status bar, but it would be great if that would work automatically.
Speaking of which, I think you ought to have that visible by default. The workspaces are such a powerful and nice feature, it's a shame to hide them.
And where is the <shift> right-click menu configured? That shows the workspaces, but I'd like to move that to the main menu (your alt menu).

Finally, I have a QuickLaunch button configuration issue - I have my QL shortcuts at a non-standard location, so I tried to use "userprofile\my documents\QL" as the path, just like in the menu, but that didn't work, I had to specify the full path, i.e. "c:\documents and setting\..." I'm sure there's a variable that I could be using instead, so if anybody could tell me which, I'd appreciate it.

Shutdown - your BBI-powered shutdown solution is fantastic, I like that a lot. So why are you hiding it in your <ctrl>-rightclick menu? Why that link to the display settings instead? That seems illogical.
I already switched it for the menus, eg. put Shutdown in what I'd call the main menu (rightclick; your alt-menu), and once I figure out how to do it, I'll also do it for the start menu (under the home button in the taskbar).

Update: Haha, I think that's my own fault and was caused by editing menu.rc. Sorry. :)

Agreed.

Interesting that you're running with bbInterface 0.9.6 & not the latest version (0.9.9).

Are you sure?
This is what the BBI rc says:

Hiding? I don't think that placing it in main menu - means hiding it :)

Maybe it is illogical, but also it is intuitive. You Must understand, that i'm not trying to make "the coolest blackbox config".
The target of this project is to create some really good alternative to explorer, but also familiar for average user.
But Im really appreciate your feedback.

Feel free to suggest better menu setup, but don't forget,
