Post Developers Needed!
Blackbox needs developers desperately. If you can code anything, from a plugin to an improvement on an old open source build to a completely new build (we wish) than please come in touch with us, either on boxshots/lostinthebox/bb4win or e-mail me at pitkon@otenet.gr You can help this shell and this community find their rightful place in the Windows 7 era. There is some interest expressed, but we do need more and we need to fight back if we want Blackbox for Windows to stay afloat. Plus, we would welcome ideas in the lostinthebox forums (yes, they are free of spam and open to everyone now) on anything that would help to advertise the shell. Box for Blackbox!

I made this post in several of the popular Linux OS Forums, to which I am a member of:

Blackbox is a fast lightweight window manager for the X System - that you have been looking for, without all those annoying library dependencies.
Blackbox is built with C++ and contains completely original code.

Fluxbox and Openbox are both, based off of Blackbox.

HackedBox -- http://fluxbox-wiki.org/index.php?title=Fluxbox-wiki
Openbox -- http://openbox.org

We shall see if this, brings in any response, replies and/or new members to the Forum?

Great, vrkalak. After posting my announcement on boxshots/bb4win/lostinthebox, I already got mail. It's really encouraging.

Jdevil, do you think you could give it a go? I mean use source Blackbox files to build something new?

I've been diving into bbLean for several days, found nothing good to do yet.

btw, is there anyone else we can discuss together with, about new feature or concepts?

You can e-mail me, if you wish pitkon@otenet.gr about new features, and everyone who reads this can chip in here.
For me, a new built must, above all, be compatible with Windows 7.
It MUST support split gradients, volume, icons and separators on the menu, outline text as in BBLeanMod, and perhaps some new goodies like gradient borders?

sounds to me like merging of code could satisfy most of the demands :wink:

@ pitkon

Saw your recent posts about this on DeviantArt Blackbox-Group.

We'll have to bring in some new members and/or developers - sooner or later. :P I see interest brewing.

Hi
I help out on the openSUSE and Novell forums (SuSE Linux Enterprise) as well as packaging on the OpenBuild Service. I've recently packaged up blackbox (including some patches/fixes) so it now builds on openSUSE 11.4 and SLE 11 SP1. I'm not a coder as such, just to patch/hack for building....

Anyway I've posted you request in a blog on the openSUSE Forums here;
http://forums.opensuse.org/forums/blogs ... anager-54/

If anyone is looking for the rpms, they are here;
http://download.opensuse.org/repositori ... /blackbox/

Mod: Please join the Forums, so that we know who you are.

Post Re: Developers Needed!
Thanks for making a post about this in the OpenSUSE Forums.

About the only Linux OS-distro forum that I did not make a post in. I'm not a member there (I don't know RPM)

Any and all, help is appreciated. =D>
