Post iPod/iTunes Troubles
i searched and didn't find anything about this, but:

when i put Blackbox as my main shell, itunes wouldn't work. so i downloaded BroamTunes
but, when it loads, i get an error:
Code:
The software required for communicating with iPods and mobile phones was not installed correctly. Do you want iTunes to try and repair this for you?

so i click yes, and iTunes loads, but then i get the same error, except it just tells me to reinstall iTunes instead of asking if it'll fix it.

THEN, bbBroamTunes gives me an error "iTunes create error"

basically, my iPod won't load with my iTunes, so i can't put more music onto it or take music off, etc.
would reinstalling itunes help or is there some other plugin i can download?

try reinstalling.

Theres also an app called anapod explorer. google it.

Nice app if you don't wanna deal with itunes.

Also, theres a plugin for foobar2000 that can add/remove/play songs on you ipod. Winamp can be used for ipod management as well.

umm Rockbox anyone, no need for itunes at all.

You can use explorer to add the tracks, and use whatever player you use that can make playlists to make them instead of thru itunes. And they aren't renamed all goopy like. On my old mini tis a lil slow sometimes, the processor on the oldies aren't that strong. But I played doom on it too! I still need to figure out the controls, but feck DOOM ON AN IPOD!

If anyone knows how to crack the case of a mini 1g please let me know. I am clueless and have plans for it, rgb led with better diffusor plate, bigger hdd, sd slot maybe too if i know how to mess with the bios and register it. And maybe even make it steampunk-like SQUEEE!

Alas, Rockbox does not work on the new Classic series, or the new Nanos (I won't even mention the touch). I also hear that rockbox doesn't play too nice with the batteries, but that may be an outdated bit of information.

To open your mini 1g, pry off the flat top at the top where the hold button and headphone jack is. should be relatively pain-free, but you may leave a mark or two. My friend changed the battery on his mini a couple of years back.

I have rockbox on my 5.5gen 80GB.

Battery life is great. Longer than using the original UI.
I get around 26 hours on rockbox, ~20 on the iPod UI.
