Post LCD world... not that sharp as i thought
the story is like this: i've decided to change my old 17 " CRT display with a new 19" LCD... but i didn't want to spend that much money on it so i bought online an Acer V193b and today the new LCD came... and to tell you the truth i'm a bit disappointed... on my old CRT everything was smooth.. every text every line... but on the LCD you can say goodbye to any font antialiasing... even with cleartype on both on Vista and Xp the text looks horrible and makes reading an e-book or something pretty hard un less i zoom in.
is this a common feature for all LCDs or only the cheap ones have this problem?

and i know this topic sounds like stone age to you but here the LCD market was very expensive until now!

Must be your screen.
I've had a Dell 20 inch wide screen for a couple of years and to me the text looks good. Before that I had a 15" Samsung, and that too looked good.
Font anti-aliasing is a function of the OS, not the LCD panel, so maybe there's something else going on... have you installed an up-to-date monitor driver?
Also, what's the resolution you're running vs. the native resolution of the panel? That might be a problem - LCDs are best operated at their native resolution.
How does your screen perform when you watch movies?
