What do you guys (BB veterans/long time users) consider a good desktop? Usability/Functionality, eye candy (ex. lots of plugins), etc.

I can't give a lot of examples; I'm not very creative with words.. :(

Minimal.

I need my desktop to just tell me which programs are there, and what needs attention.

Basically just a taskbar.

I don't need to know what the hell the time is in another country or the weather; I have my brain and my window for that.

I'm a cluster-fuck kind of guy. I like it minimal in the middle, but around the edges... pack as much as you can so I never have to use the right click menu!

BBInterface, BBIcons, BBCalendar, BBMail, BBRecyclebin, BBSysmonPlus, BBSysMeter, BBMuse, BBSystemBarEX.

I want it all. :-D

Funtionality is major. I do business with people in other states and some in Japan... So... Knowing the times there is important. Since I travel too, knowing the weather is more than just looking out my window.. lmao

but to each their own.. that's why they're called personal computers... haha

I try to keep it minimal, as I hardlty use my computer for anything other than music and teh internets.

Easy access to my media player of choice (read: Foobar2k frontend), the recycle bin and some often-used icons is all I really need.

Maybe some other stuff that I haven't thought about yet? Who knows.

My computer use is primarily Emulators(or Dynasty Warriors 4 Hyper)/Firefox/Winamp/Picasa2/Trillian. If I'm not using one of those things: I'm not on the computer, or I'm rearranging my desktop to make it pretty(ier). Soo, anything very much more than that is clutter. Things have to be on the edges, transparent, and not obstruct the wallpaper.

Plus, I'm really big on things looking nice. I drive a Cadillac on the road, and at home. Who cares if no one will /actually/ see it... I just like to /think/ that someone will :D

minimal and functional. bblean, hotkeys. i like as much screen real estate as possible. i keep the work laptop and the home boxen as similar as possible... though i'll 'play' with various bb-plugins on the home box.

To each their own. I have whatever I need. If I don't have something, I usually put it there.

UberBox is a must though. Just program different functions and stuff.

Mostly important stuff for me.

I decide what to put on my desktop according to two criteria: 1. it must help me do my work more efficiently; or 2. it must be fun to play with.

I also like to make everything hideable, either automatically or manually with bbi. Sometimes you just need a little more room. :D

A desktop is a good desktop if let you reach every application in a couple of clicks without thousand icons...
In few words:
1) an effective wharf (I don't use bbicon or bbiconbox)
2) some system monitors (basically ram cpu and recyclebin)
3) a winamp/foobar controller
4) other stuff, it depends on the user needs...

Obviously I have to be able to hide/show them when I want.
bye

I usually go for minimalistic, four workspaces, no taskbar thingie. I have a few quicklaunch icons in two toolbars, a pager and that's it.

If you want a screenshot: ask.

i like minimalism. after my noob steps into customization with windowblinds and realizing it was a RAM whore, my buddy said to look at blackbox, that was like shoot about 3 years ago and i havent gone back.

i dont like anything interupting my ability to work, so i am extremely picky as to what plugins i use. i have my 5 icons in my iconbox(recycle, my docs, my computer, firefox, winamp), i have my system monitor because i like knowing how many processes i am running and my inbound and outbound net traffic and other stats, my Zcmd/uberbox(im switching to this soon) for whenever i need it and my bbpager to switch between 2 windows.

i hate desktop icons and i dont like clutter. my desktop must be minimal, crisp, fast, and effective without me ever having to think about what i am doing. it should be pure intuition on all sides.
