Post Win 7 Plugin Errors - 64-bit Support
ive been playing around with bblean for the past few days but have yet to successfully add a third party pluing.

neither adding 'plugins\pluginname\tadaa.dll' or using the add function within the shell leads to anything but an error saying:

"The plugin cannot be loaded. Possible reasons: bla bla bla"

now, the only reason i find plausible is the fact that im running windows 7 and these stone age plugins are flipping me the finger because of it.

can anyone confirm this or tell me what im doing wrong. are no plugins compatible with windows 7?

cheers

Which "stone age" plugins do you have in mind?

ive tried several from http://bb4win.sourceforge.net/

what i was initially searching for was a system monitor of some kind, but like i said, i cant get any type of plugin to work.

if possible, i want them all to work though.

The list at the top of the page says

some plugins require the MSVC7 runtimes (MSVCR7x.dll) ;)
Have you tried that?

The reason for asking you *which* plugins you've tried is so that testing can be done on another Win7 box. ;)

 that makes a *HUGE* difference......

*very* few plugins have been compiled to run on 64-bit. Other than those shipped with 64-bit bbLean 1.17, there are only those marked x64 on the left hand side of the bb4win sourceforge site.

The problem would be just the same if you were running 64-bit Vista or 64-bit XP....... ;)

even the plugins marked under x64 result in the error message mentioned above.

Post Re: Win 7 Plugin Errors - 64-bit Support
This reply is being written on a 32-bit Win7 interface - which can run any flavour of bb4win other than Blackbox for Windows 0.92 (& earlier) or Bluebox.

IIRC I ran various 32-bit versions of bb4win flavours on Vista 64-bit - although that was a while back. (At the time no one had compiled 64-bit versions.)

Presumably you have installed bbLean 1.17 as your shell? (The question is only asked in case that _might_ be an issue for you.)

The problem is getting the plugins compiled under x64. This is a matter of locating the source code (which is usually available) and then doing the compiling.

If you want to compile the plugins yourself, you may find the last half of this thread helpful.

Some time ago, Eun-Hjzjined indicated that he was interested in compiling 64-bit versions of plugins for folks, but that his technical resources were limited. You can try contacting him by PM to see whether that is still a resource available to you.

As the 32-bit version of bbLean 1.17 *does* work under 64-bit Win7, you do have the option of running that. (The main issue there is that 32-bit bbLeanSkin does not skin 64-bit apps - such as Windows Explorer.)
