Too bad shell switching and limited accounts don't mix (at least I haven't figured it out yet).

 Re: BBClean (New mod)
Oh really? I haven't had any luck with it. It brings up the menu, attempts to start the new shell, and then crashes. Always. I figured it was due to fact that it couldn't activate the shell for lack of write permission to the registry.

 Re: BBClean (New mod)
Ok excuse my timing, (just before the release of a new build) but I thought I'd share a few suggestions re bbClean and what would make it even better in my eyes. Of course, I use bb in my way and what's good for me may well be useless for others, so I have no illusions that noccy or anyone else will agree with me... but hey, just on the off chance... First of all, bbClean is already really, really nice, the ideas I have are just about polish. Here goes in order of importance to me: myself wrote: Make menus more like windows
When I first started using bb I was surprised by how fast you could drill down through directories via the menu, tear off menus and then drag and drop/use explorer's context menu. For me this has turned out to be the best thing about bb and has really changed the way I use my computer and even organise files. I reckon this could be improved even further by making the tear off menus more like windows:
1) Have the default option for the tear off menus to be visible on just the current workspace like normal windows or on all the workspaces (sticky). This way I can browse my music and open album menus on one workspace, have a bunch of blackbox config menus open on another workspace, and finally do some drag & dropping of files on a third. All at the same time without getting a cluttered mess. This is prob most important change for me.
2) Be able to go back up the file tree from a tear off menu. Sometimes I realise I want to open the parent folder of a tear off menu, rather than have to drill all the way down from the beginning again. It would be great if a middle click on the menu.title would go back up the menu file tree and open the parent folder (as a menu, not in explorer), just reversing the normal process.
3) Open the tear off menu folder in explorer. Again sometimes I have a tear off menu and then I realise I need to open it in explorer. Although if 2) is implemented I could just go up a level and then doubleclick, it would be even better if I could just double click the menu.title and the current folder would be opened in explorer.
4) Finally and this is not that important, just the icing on the cake, being able to resize menus like windows would be sweet! me again wrote: Be able to style everything and all independentlyAnother thing I really like about bb is the ability to have a really stylish, good looking desktop based on only very simple styles. Only problem is that some elements can only be styled together which can limit things. 1) Be able to style the menu ticks/toggles/checkboxes (whatever you want to call them) independently of menu.active.backgroundColor. I have a style which only changes the textColor when items on the menu are selected. It looks very nice but the unavoidable problem is that all the ticks/toggles/checkboxes don't change when selected either and you can't tell what plugins are loaded etc as in below pic: I've already posted about this here. Apparently the option exists in xoblite, but crowmag mentioned crossplatform compatibility problems and suggested an extensions.rc option instead. Personally, having all styles declared in the style would be best, but I appreciate the compatiblity issues might make an extensions.rc workaround the best solution. 2) In the same vein but less importantly, I'd like to be able to style the volume bar, the scroll bar etc independently. 3) As an aside, my perfect styling solution would be to have a CSS like total styling object model kind of thing (would this be very slow?).The syntax would be as close to CSS as possible (so it would be intuitive for web designers) and as much as possible would be styleable with padding-lefts and border-bottoms and background images and everything! Yes, I realise this is never ever going to happen! Ok, that's me done for now! I've got some other grander ideas like the CSS one, but they're just wishful thinking and probably not very practical. What do you guys think? Helpful? Implementable? Useless? pls excuse unorthodox use of quotes, it seemed to make a long post more readable

Hey kimangroo, can you hook me up with that font ur using in ur screenshot?? Or I'll trade you with another font if you'd like. And number 2 in regards to BBMenu is a good one and number 1 in the "Style everything" part.

It's bundled in this link that they gave from deviantart here. But it turned out I already had it installed, so you might as well. Btw anyone like idea 1)?! It's the one I would use the most!

 Re: BBClean (New mod)
Hi all. I was wondering where one would be able to find the source code for the latest release (and especially the source code for the latest bbLeanBar-version). I need the source code to add actions for mouse clicks on items on the task bar.
I updated to bbClean from bbLean today, and while I really like the changes made I still miss closing tasks with the middle-mouse button.

You can also just double click the folder on my setup. It's very useful, but sometimes I need to open the folder I'm already in.

kimangroo wrote: Unfortunately that only works if you are one level above the folder you want to open. You can also just double click the folder on my setup. It's very useful, but sometimes I need to open the folder I'm already in. Well, got any ideas on how this might be implemented? Mouse clicks are pretty much used up: - left-click menu titlebar - pins the menu
- double left-click menu titlebar - toggles always on top \ ordinary z order focusing of menu
- right-click menu titlebar - dismisses the menu
so, you'd have to have something like a [<] button that displayed on the titlebars of all sub-menus that were generated with ' [path]' in the parent menu. And then... how ya gonna style that sucker? Who's going to be un happy with the way it's styled? What kind of bugs and or heft will that add to core that would have to be sorted out? A workaround could be as simple as creating a custom menu file called 'Fav Folders' with sub-menus to all your favorite folders and call it from bbKeys, tho you would have to use ' [path]' for these sub-menus as bro@ms won't give you the desired results from mouse clicks. BTW: double-clicking a folder name on my setup brings up a ' My Computer' style Explorer window - after using Blackbox all these years, I can't remember every default setting so, I gave you instructions that will always bring up the type of window you were expecting. Another thing to consider is this; the beauty of bbLean (and therefore bbClean) is it's eloquent simplicity. Adding features that defeat this is a retrograde of the shell - not a progression of it. You as a user should try to come up with simple alternatives an workarounds first before expecting the shell to be bogged down with so many features that it becomes such a complicated and slow moving beast to use and style that everyone becomes disappointed with it. Speed, simplicity, stability, style - that's what it's ultimately all about! - A better mouse trap doesn't weigh 400 lbs. and cost $32,000...

Hey I agree with you crowmag, nice and simple is the best. I just thought that some of the ideas I had might be quite simple and yet useful. If not, then scrap 'em! As it is idea 3) was a bit of an afterthought, 1) & 2) make more sense to me.

I will check if it is easy to add a simple shell extension registry entry with something like Open Containing Folder so that you can right-click a file in a menu, and have this option on top. Since Noccy taught me how to do that, I'm looking for feasible extensions, and this is obviously one of those. Does not make too much sense to have thsi when in explorer, but anyway.
