I'm on vista on my laptop since I could never get linux to run on it, so I thought of using xoblite on it. Everything runs smooth, but the start button shows up when I run firefox, any other windows programs. Is there a fix for this?

Are you sure you have installed xoblite as shell, or are you running it over explorer?

I just unzipped and ran the BlackBox.exe app. So you're saying I need to exit explorer first, then run it. I'll try that.

One more problem. I installed xoblite as a shell, explorer isnt running, but my window title bars are all vista like still. I cant double click em to roll them up. Also, my single aprosophe key opens my quick find in firefox.

For the window shading.
I believe that is not working because of the Aero style that is applied. Switching to a classic or windows 2000 style may work. Won't be as much candy but, makes it easier on the system in the long run.

I have played with Vista, but not on a laptop. The Problem with your keyboard may just be as simple as changing some regional settings.

I had a similar problem when trying to adopt a windows version installer. Some may know it as tinyXp.
All it turned out to be was a screwed up keyboard driver.

You can use HideWin to Hide the Start Button. It's a Window, with the title "Start" and a class of "Button".

I'm also having a problem using xoblite on vista, instead of creating another topic i decided to post here.
I'd been using xoblite for a while on my old xp laptop, but it died and i got a new one with vista, after installing xoblite i noticed two problems: every time i'd turn the computer off and log on later my wallpaper would be blank even though bsetroot.bmp is there, also, more importantly, i can't control my volume, i've tried bbkeys, and bbkeyhook but neither worked.
I really need some help because this has been bugging me quite a bit (especially the volume).

Vista changed the way volume is set, so the normal stuff doesn't work anymore

Does the install routine you used on Vista match the advice here. (Vista unfortunately has its own rules when it comes to installing bb4win.)

As for the Tray VolumeControl, this is a Vista issue that the bb4win community has only recently resolved. qwilk has told me that he will be implementing the required patch in bb4 - the "soon to be released" update for xoblite. There have been a number of RL issues that have kept the final touches being sorted out for bb4 - so it remains unclear how soon "soon" will be.

thanks i resolved the wallpaper thing myself, and i didn't know i had to run it in admin mode to install thanks, also i added volume control in my menu and it works, however i couldn't get bbkeys to work.

Since you're on Vista, you can use bbKeys 1.75 here - bbCore required (also in same post).

(The issues that keep that version from running in earlier versions of Windows have yet to be resolved.)
