This seems to have been due to a "stability" patch that is being removed in bb4win_mod 1.19. (Thanks for the offline beta testing.) :D

Re: bb4win_mod Discussion Thread
hey guys i am new to the forums but after using bblean for some years i wanted to try something new and the bb4win_mod is really great =D>

But i have some trouble with it:

First i have an hotfix for the usb remove thingy:
Add this to your Menu.rc:
Code:
[exec] (-= Remove USB =-) {RunDll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL hotplug.dll}

this solved it for me (on WinXP)

The second problem i have are the Desktop margins:
After i boot my PC the settings in the extensions.rc are not applied to the shell. When i then manually restart the bb shell it works. But i have to do this every time i boot my pc which is really annoying :? Anyone have an idea what it is?

My Specs:
WinXP SP3
BB4win_Mod
Plugins:
plugins\bbSystemBar\bbSystemBar.dll
plugins\bbKeys\bbKeys.dll
plugins\bbWinSkin\bbWinSkin.dll
plugins\bbRun\bbrun.dll
plugins\bbkeyhook062b\bbkeyhook.dll
plugins\bbworkspacewheel010\bbWorkspaceWheel.dll
plugins\bbiconbox02\bbIconBox.dll

Re: bb4win_mod Discussion Thread
How to change tooltips colors. I`ve been looking everywhere and didn`t find any information about this. Is it possible that default tooltips color is dark?

Re: bb4win_mod Discussion Thread
  • Open up extensions.rc - as before & make sure that *blackbox.global.menu.title.fontHeight:* has a ! at the very beginning. If not, put one there
  • Win + S should open the Style file that you are using. Somewhere near the top enter
    Code:
    menu.title.fontHeight: 1
    That will get rid of the titles on your menus. (If you just want very small titles, then use a number like 3 or 4.)
  • CTRL + RightClick on the Toolbar and click on Edit Settings. At the top of the file, there are a number of *bbSystemBar.item:* entries, make sure that *all* of them have a ! in front of the *except* for: *bbSystemBar.item: Tasks* and *bbSystemBar.item: WorkspaceLabel*
  • In that same file set *bbSystemBar.widthPerThou:* to 1000 and set *bbSystemBar.tasks.style:* to 0

    • First: RightClick->Settings->Graphics->Global Font Override
    • Second: RightClick->Settings->Edit->Edit extensions.rc
    • Third: in the opened file (near the bottom) set *blackbox.global.toolbar.fontHeight:* to a bigger number such as 20 or 24
  • Nothing much wrong with your English :wink: :D

Thank you so much! Just one more question...
This is not my desktop, but look at it, http://customize.org/bb4win/themes/53265/view/50533
How can I do like that? I mean, he/she have no icon's and other stuff, just the program he/she are running, can you help me with that?

Re: bb4win_mod - 1.18 final - SysTray Patch for Vista
Following some very helpful work by carsomyr :D here, it's been possible to get the Vista Control Panel icons showing at all times.

A patched update is now in the download post.

Is there some kind of install disk for this reader? Does have any disk at all in your DVD drive change the behaviour?

Re: bb4win_mod Discussion Thread
The popups are related to my first reply in this thread, the Windows | No Disc errors. It seems I have to disable my reader for it to go away and I don't think I really want to do that. We'll see, I might go back and try it or just leave it be. :wink:

Re: bb4win_mod Discussion Thread
UAC is off and the popups are not related to it, so how would that help me?

Does it _still_ do that if you use this work-around?

Re: bb4win_mod Discussion Thread
To be honest I was hoping that I never had to report anything. bb4win rocks my world, but Vista decides to give me fifteen popups whenever I run a program or a game and I really don't feel like disabling my BD-reader. :(

Thumbs up for good work so far. :wink:

The reason why I'm asking here is because the problem only exists when Blackbox is installed. If I uninstall the problem disappears. ...I was more curious if you guys know if Blackbox removes any functionality in Vista that could make this problem appear. This is theoretically speaking. :)

Not to say that the problem hasn't happened to many folks, but you're the first one to report it. :wink: The short answer to your question is: "the problem could be due to Blackbox, but if so we don't know why".

Blackbox has always removed (what has appeared to be) excess functionality in Windows. Lack of Dev resources, however, has meant that a "clean slate" approach to Vista has not been practicable. :( The whole "kernel security" area in Vista (as well as migration to 64-bit) means that much restructuring is coming down the line.

ATM the focus for bb4win_mod is on trying to produce a simpler base from which to migrate. (AFAIK it is the only bb4win flavour that is being developed on Vista.)
