bbWinSkin has yet to be released in a 64-bit version. This means that, when it is running in a 64-bit environment, it can only skin 32-bit apps. The file browser that you have is almost certainly a 64-bit app.

It is hoped that there will be a 64-bit release later this year. In the meantime, if you are not running xoblite, you can try looking here at the browsers that come with bbLean 1.17 & boxCore.

The released version of bbLeanBar+ is based on the 27-01-2009 (beta 2) version of the bbLean 1.17 codebase.

You are presumably attempting to run it on the 18-05-2009 (final) version.

At some stage, a heavily modified version of bbMien will be relased - probably under another name. ;)

I find it amusing when skins designed for other shells look exactly like Blackbox.

Yes. This is part of the update to bbLeanSkin+ - release date pending.

EDIT: If you mean transparency for just the skinner & not the window - as shown in your screenie - this is *not* doable ATM.

If you're using xoblite, adjust bbWinSkin.titlebar.icon.size: in bbWinSkin.rc.

thx...

bbWinSkin 1.21 released - regular & transparency builds
These are the latest builds - Documentation - Source Code

    What's new?
  • expanded styleFont option
  • safeMetrics handles oversize Titlebars
  • styleParsing overhaul - only bb4win skinner that displays "old syntax" frame & borders as per bb4nix
  • adjustable snapToEdge distance

Tested on Win95->Vista. (Win95 users watch out for crashes on Restarts.)

Caveats for Transparency Build
  • Your box probably needs a basic Core Duo or better. Something less may end up struggling. "Struggles" means windows turning completely black.
  • Partial (focus|unfocus) transparency
    • apps with child (>1) windows get rendered "all focus" or "all unfocus". This is a limitation of the Windows API (see WS_EX_LAYERED). In some cases, "all unfocus" happens even though the app has the focus.
    • Make sure you have bbleanskin.windows.backTransparency: #c3ff11 as an active setting - otherwise it will default to Full Transparency
    • To switch transparency off for a single window, short term, click on the very outside of the window. It will last until you click somewhere else on the screen.
    • For the avoidance of doubt, this plugin will not render transparency under Windows 9x.
  • Full background transparency.
    • This works by your:
      • choosing a single colour (in Hexadecimal notation (as used in Style files - including the #) - not #c3ff11 ;)
      • setting Application Background & Window in Display|Appearance Control Panel applet to that colour (using RGB notation))
      • for Hex to RGB conversion, try somewhere like here.
    • You'll also probably need to reset your font choices to something that does not support font smoothing - unless you have dark text on a pale background - or vice versa. (Turning font smoothing off is not recommended.) ;) Some of the many alternative font possibilities are:
      • System
      • MS Serif
      • any of the artwiz fonts used in Styles
Enjoy!

Re: bbWinSkin|bbLeanSkinMod
it's ok... I understand, I can live without the outlines.. was just an idea and I thought maybe it could be derived from the already existent shadow effect that is present in most of the plugins... anyway thanks for the reply!

Nice idea - but :( not very pretty when it's done up in code.

ATM the code for drawing outline text is a bit intensive to work successfully on any of the plugins tested to date: bbWinSkin, bbSystemBar & bbStyle.

Re: bbWinSkin|bbLeanSkinMod
just got an idea... use some syntax to outline the fonts in the window title bar... a white font would look awesome with a black outline on a Grey window label section... could the shadow syntax be used to do something like this?

I've attached a screenshot to see what I mean.
